NFL analyst rips into Jets QB Aaron Rodgers: 'Likely toast'
New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Jets have not been as hyped up of a team as they are heading into the 2023 NFL season in a very long time. A lot of that hype has to do with the major blockbuster offseason trade to acquire superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers from the Green Bay Packers. Immediately following that trade, the Jets were being talked about as a potential Super Bowl contender.

While they could very well be a Super Bowl-contending team, there is a lot that they have to prove. Simply trading for Rodgers does not make them favorites in the AFC.

Speaking of Rodgers, there are some who believe the move may not end up working out for New York. One of those analysts is Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon.

"It’s probably safe to say Aaron Rodgers won’t be in the league in five years, despite his comments Tuesday at Jets training camp, but that’s not even what I’m getting at here. I’m thinking more along the lines of the fact we’ll laugh Rodgers ever became a member of the New York Jets and caused many of us to take Gang Green seriously ahead of the 2023 campaign.

“Rodgers is about to turn 40, and he’s likely toast.”

Rodgers has been met with a roller coaster of reporting since being traded to the Jets and forcing his way out of Green Bay. His former Packers fans have completely turned on him. No one can blame them for the way things went down.

There is no question that Aaron Rodgers will have the weapons to put together a huge season. He has Garrett Wilson, Allen Lazard, Mecole Hardman Jr., Randall Cobb and Corey Davis to work with. All of those guys are more than capable playmakers.

One thing that can be safely said is the fact that Rodgers has always used doubts as motivation. He is ready to forge a new path for himself with the Jets. His time with the Packers was special, but this is a chapter that seems to have rejuvenated him.

Expect to see Rodgers come out looking to make a major statement this season with the Jets. All of the haters are back at it, but the opportunity he has is truly making him happy. It will be interesting to see how the numbers look at the end of the 2023 season.
