NFL Analyst Urging Patriots To Pursue Amari Cooper Trade
Thomas Shea-USA TODAY Sports

In recent years, the New England Patriots have experienced a departure from their typical dominance in the NFL. Following the illustrious Tom Brady era, the team has struggled to replicate its former glory.

The arrival of Mac Jones, drafted with the hope of filling Brady’s formidable shoes, did not yield the expected results. Consequently, the Patriots have shifted gears, signaling their intention to draft a new quarterback with the No. 3 pick in the upcoming draft.

While the focus seems to be on grooming a rookie quarterback, it’s evident that the team’s roster requires additional firepower in the form of a reliable pass-catcher. Despite securing K.J. Osborn on a one-year deal, the Patriots are actively exploring other options to bolster their receiving corps.

Reports suggest that the Patriots pursued Calvin Ridley, albeit unsuccessfully, as he opted to sign with the Tennessee Titans. Speculation now revolves around the potential acquisition of Amari Cooper, with the Cleveland Browns possibly open to negotiations.

Although Cooper remains with the Browns for the upcoming season, there’s speculation about his future beyond that, making him a viable target for the Patriots. Securing a seasoned veteran like Amari Cooper could significantly enhance the Patriots’ offensive capabilities, providing a much-needed boost to their receiving options.

However, if negotiations with the Browns falter, the Patriots may have to resort to addressing their receiving needs later in the draft, potentially relying on rookies to step up and deliver alongside Jones.

Nonetheless, proactive measures to secure a seasoned receiver could prove pivotal in shaping the Patriots’ offensive strategy for the upcoming season.
