NFL 'MNF' player prop: A go-to to throw to

After gaining clarity on his future through participating in a darkness retreat, Aaron Rodgers makes his Jets debut under the bright lights of Monday Night Football. It’s been a career arc strikingly similar to that of fellow Super Bowl winner Brett Favre, whose trade from Green Bay to New York happened 15 years earlier. Although his team is a slight underdog to the visiting Bills, Rodgers will look to match his Packers predecessor by opening the season with a win against a division opponent, and we’re backing his favorite target for our top prop:

The bet: Over 5½ receptions for Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson (DraftKings)

Despite playing with four different quarterbacks last season, Wilson exceeded 1,100 receiving yards and was named Offensive Rookie of the Year. He covered this number each time he faced the Bills, catching eight passes for 92 yards from Zach Wilson and then six for 78 from Mike White.

Needless to say, the upgrade to the pinpoint accuracy of Rodgers is massive. And Wilson has clearly earned the trust of the four-time league MVP, as evidenced by the brief period that they shared the field during the preseason finale. In less than a quarter of action, Rodgers and Wilson connected three times for 30 yards and a touchdown.

The chemistry between quarterback and receiver seems akin to what Rodgers had with Davante Adams in Green Bay. Prior to signing with the Raiders as a free agent in 2022, Adams caught at least six passes from Rodgers in each of their last 10 games together.

A similar streak for Wilson starts tonight.
