NFL upholds four-game suspension for Broncos' Kareem Jackson

Denver Broncos defensive back Kareem Jackson is not getting his suspension reduced this time around.

The NFL announced late Tuesday night that hearing officer Derrick Brooks has upheld the four-game suspension that was handed out to Jackson for his hit to the head of Minnesota Vikings quarterback Joshua Dobbs on Sunday night.

It is the second time this season that Jackson has been suspended for reckless play, and Sunday's game was his first back in the lineup after that initial suspension.

He was suspended four games following the Broncos' Week 7 against the Green Bay Packers for violating the league's unnecessary roughness rules. He appealed that suspension and eventually had it reduced down to two games.

This appeal did not go his way.

Nor should it have.

Jackson has demonstrated this season that he has no regard for the the well-being of his opponents and is not getting the message that he needs to change the way he tackles players. Along with the multiple suspensions, he has also been ejected from two games and racked up over $89K in fines for repeated illegal hits.

His two-game suspension also cost him $279K in salary.

That means with this latest four-game suspension he is going to lose over $647K in salary this season.
