Packers claim RB JaMycal Hasty off waivers

The Green Bay Packers have added another running back to their 53-man roster. On Monday, the team claimed JaMycal Hasty off waivers from the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Hasty is knowledgeable on the Matt LaFleur type of scheme because he played two seasons for the San Francisco 49ers.

On a corresponding move, the Packers waived defensive back Innis Gaines, who had been signed to the 53-man roster on Saturday.

Hasty background

JaMycal Hasty was signed by the 49ers as an undrafted free agent in 2020. He had 216 yards and two touchdowns during his two years with Kyle Shanahan.

Waived by the 49ers after the 2022 preseason, he was claimed off waivers by the Jacksonville Jaguars. He had 194 yards and two touchdowns for the Jaguars last year. This season, he appeared on three games, but mostly as a special teamer.

Now, the Packers have four running backs on their 53-man roster: Aaron Jones, AJ Dillon, Emanuel Wilson, and Hasty. The team also has rookie Ellis Merriweather on the practice squad.

Throughout the year, Green Bay also had Patrick Taylor on the PS and active roster, and then James Robinson on the PS after Taylor was cut.
