Packers' Kenny Clark has bold declaration about Jordan Love following win over Chiefs

The story of the night, though, was the continued improvement and dominant performance of Jordan Love, whom Green Bay bet its future on when they traded four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets. By the game’s end, Love had accumulated 267 passing yards by completing 25 of 36 passes (69.4%) and three touchdown passes.

It was the second consecutive game in which Love threw for three touchdowns and no interceptions, and his fourth such game this season. He is tied with San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy for the most such games in the NFL this season.

After the game, two-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kenny Clark had a bold declaration regarding his young quarterback.

Clark had himself a pretty nice game against the Chiefs. He accumulated five total tackles, including 0.5 sacks, and had two hits on the quarterback. The defense as a whole, too, held the defending Super Bowl Champion offense to just 19 points.

However, when Clark addressed the media following the game, there was one thing he wanted to say before taking any questions, and it had to do with the Packers’ dynamic young quarterback:

Clark, as well as many other Packers players, spent the offseason and early-to-middle parts of the 2023 NFL season defending Love. They always believed in him; they always had his back. The national media sure didn’t, and neither did a vocal portion of Packers fans.

But now Love has 2,866 passing yards, 22 touchdowns, 10 interceptions, and a 90.2 quarterback rating. To put that in perspective, in his first 12 games as the Packers starter in 2008, Rodgers had 2,897 yards, 20 touchdowns, 10 interceptions, and a 91.7 passer rating. Love’s Packers are 6-6 while Rodgers’ are 5-7.

While he is not a finished product yet, Love has shown that the concerns surrounding his play were unwarranted. He has not been perfect this season, but he has done everything the Packers had hoped he would: improve in every game.

The Green Bay defense, of which Clark is a huge part, has not allowed an opponent to score 24 points in eight straight games. The offense’s 27 points against the defending champs were the most any team had scored against them this season.

It is not a stretch to say that the Packers are playing their best all-around football of the season. One could even argue they’re playing better than they did at this point last season, too.

Everything is coming together at the right time for Green Bay, who with the win have overtaken the Seattle Seahawks for the seventh and final spot in the NFC playoff picture.

The path forward for the Packers is simple: win and they’re in.
