Packers Make Bold Roster Move Before Wild Card vs. Cowboys
Grace Hollars/IndyStar / USA TODAY NETWORK

The Green Bay Packers are facing some challenges in their running back position as they prepare for Sunday’s playoff showdown against the Dallas Cowboys.

Despite the injury concerns, the Packers have made the decision to release veteran running back Kenyan Drake from their practice squad, as revealed by NFL insider Tom Pelissero.

Kenyan Drake had a limited role with the Packers this season, appearing in just one game, and he also had a brief stint with the Baltimore Ravens, participating in two games.

During his time on the field, Drake managed to make two receptions for a total of 31 yards, but his rushing attempts resulted in no yards gained.

The Packers are facing the likelihood of being without their versatile running back, AJ Dillon, for the upcoming game, as he was listed as doubtful. Dillon’s absence adds to the team’s running back challenges.

Not too long ago, Kenyan Drake was regarded as a reliable and effective running back who could contribute in both the running and passing aspects of the game. Between 2018 and 2020, he showcased his skills by scoring 27 touchdowns and accumulating over 3,200 yards from scrimmage during his tenures with the Miami Dolphins and the Arizona Cardinals.

Kenyan Drake’s NFL journey has seen him play for various teams, including the Cardinals in the 2020 season, the Las Vegas Raiders in the 2021 season, and the Baltimore Ravens in the 2022 season.
