Panthers Add to the Cornerback Room
USA TODAY Sports

Friday evening, the Carolina Panthers placed linebacker Claudin Cherelus on injured reserve with a knee injury. A few minutes after that move was made, Carolina picked up cornerback David Long Jr. off waivers from the Las Vegas Raiders.

Long Jr. has appeared in eight games this season with Vegas, totaling 12 tackles and one pass breakup. Carolina starting cornerback Donte Jackson is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Indianapolis and although Long wouldn't be ready for this week, he could be an option moving forward if Jackson's injury lingers.

Prior to his stint with the Raiders, Long spent the first four years of his NFL career with the Los Angeles Rams. There, he racked up 77 tackles, seven pass breakups, and one interception. Three of those four years were spent with Ejiro Evero (Panthers Def. Coordinator) and Jonathan Cooley (Panthers corners coach).
