Raheem Mostert isn't ready to take a tropical vacation after loss to Chiefs
Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

The Dolphins filed off the field, defeated and nearly frozen after a 26-7 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in subzero temperatures inside Arrowhead Stadium.

One Chiefs fan reportedly yelled at the players to enjoy their offseason vacation in Cancun, Mexico.

That quip wasn't lost on one particular Dolphin after the game concluded.  Raheem Mostert doesn't appear ready to go to the Yucatan peninsula, or any other tropical vacation destination for that matter.

“A loss is always disappointing, especially during a time like this where it’s a playoff run, Wild Card Game, it’s always tough," Mostert said after the game. "It’s all about being resilient, coming back the following year. I know a lot of guys who have, if you lose, the dude who I’m talking about, going to Cancun. I am not planning on a damn Cancun trip. I’m more trying to get back right so I can be ready and available for next year.”

Of all the players who didn't want to see 2023 end, Mostert's name would probably be near the top of the list.  The veteran running back enjoyed a career year in 2023, earning his first trip to the Pro Bowl.  He led the league in rushing touchdowns with 18 and tied with Christian McCaffrey for first in combined receiving and rushing touchdowns with 21.  He also eclipsed the 1000-yard rushing mark for the first time in his career at 1012 rushing yards.

Mostert will be back in 2024, having signed a 2-year, $5.6 million deal with the Dolphins in March 2023.  He and De'Von Achane will once again look to serve as one of the top running back duos in the league.

For now, he will spend the next several weeks working on getting over the knee and ankle injuries that plagued him late in the season.  Not sipping on a cocktail in a lounge chair in another country.
