The Las Vegas Raiders continued adding more depth recently, though the team parted ways with cornerback T.J. Morrison in the process.

The defensive backfield for the Silver and Black went through some changes, the team added De’Vante Bausby yesterday. The six-foot-two and 190-pound veteran split time last year between the Arizona Cardinals and Denver Broncos. He appeared in ten games, starting three of them for the Broncos in the latter part of the season. Bausby accumulated five passes defensed during that stretch in Denver, unfortunately, his coverage numbers are nothing to rave about. Pro Football Focus graded his coverage at 54.0 for the 2020 season, his run defense was less than stellar too, with a 38.4 grade.

A closer look at his coverage reveals he surrendered a 68.4 completion percentage while defending the pass. Bausby might be a long shot to see any regular season playing time but he does add quality depth for training camp. On the other hand, the Raiders picked up a former first-round pick in linebacker Darron Lee.

What can the Raiders expect from Lee?

It would be easy to dismiss Lee’s signing as just another camp body but he does have upside. Most important, Lee brings championship pedigree to a young team still looking to reach the playoffs. As a member of the Kansas City Chiefs in 2019, Lee played in all 16 regular-season games, starting twice. He accumulated 31 total tackles that season, though he proved to be a liability in pass coverage. That year, Lee was targeted 15 times, surrendering 15 completions. However, Lee’s upside is his age, he’s only 26 years old and if he stays healthy, could make the roster though his journey will be steep. In the best-case scenario, the Raiders just picked someone up who can revive their career with the Silver and Black.
