Ravens' John Harbaugh: Lamar Jackson critics are 'whistling in the graveyard'

According to Jamison Hensley of ESPN, people around the NFL commented in August that this fall "might be the year that everybody figures out" Baltimore Ravens star quarterback Lamar Jackson. That hasn't happened yet, as Jackson has guided his team to five consecutive victories and, per ESPN stats, is eighth in the league with 1,686 passing yards, seventh with a 62.6 total QBR, and seventh with 392 rushing yards.

Coming off Sunday's 34-6 blowout win over the Los Angeles Chargers, Baltimore head coach John Harbaugh had some words for those who doubted the 2019 NFL Most Valuable Player who is a candidate to win this season's edition of that award.

"If you're looking for your headline here, I think the people who make those statements are kind of whistling in the graveyard just a little bit," Harbaugh explained. "It doesn't have any meaning. Anybody who knows X's and O's are rolling their eyes when they hear something like that."

Perhaps the only thing that can slow Jackson ahead of Halloween is his own body. He's dealt with multiple illness issues not related to COVID-19, a sore hip and back soreness since the opening week of the season but hasn't yet missed a game. Jackson will look to continue that streak and his hot play in this coming Sunday's divisional matchup against the 4-2 Cincinnati Bengals.
