Recently reinstated WR indicates he can make immediate impact for Cowboys

Even though wide receiver Martavis Bryant hasn't played in an NFL game since 2018, he believes he can make an immediate impact for the Dallas Cowboys.

"The sky's the limit for me, man," Bryant said Wednesday, via the team's website. "I know I'm 31, but still fast, still want to play football. I haven't lost anything."

The NFL suspended Bryant indefinitely for multiple violations of the league's substance-abuse policy. Commissioner Roger Goodell recently reinstated him, and the Cowboys signed him on Tuesday. Bryant indicated he has learned from his mistakes and is ready to make the most of another opportunity.

"I've been through a lot over the last few years that I haven't played ball," Bryant said. "Getting down on myself and wanting to give up on football. But at the end of the day, I had to look at myself in the mirror and face my own demons. I put the work in, and I'm very proud of it."

Bryant, a fourth-round pick in 2014, showed promise at the beginning of his career. In four seasons with the Steelers and Raiders, he logged 145 receptions for 2,183 yards and 17 TDs. While out of the league, he played in the CFL, Indoor Football League and XFL.

The Atheltic's Shams Charnia and Jon Machota reported Bryant is expected to start on the practice squad before he's moved to the active roster in the coming weeks.

It's unlikely Bryant will re-emerge as a star, but he could be a serviceable wideout. He also adds much-needed depth. Outside of WR CeeDee Lamb and TE Jake Ferguson, no Cowboy has crossed the 25-reception or 300-yard mark.

If the veteran can step in and contribute immediately, that would be ideal for Dallas.
