Report: Aaron Rodgers advised Zach Wilson on whether to start again

The New York Jets’ messy quarterback situation continues to get worse, and things are significant enough that Aaron Rodgers has reportedly tried to intervene.

Rodgers advised Zach Wilson to resume the starter role for the Jets despite Wilson’s reluctance, according to Dianna Russini of The Athletic. Wilson’s reservations stem from injury concerns, and those concerns lingered even after Rodgers’ intervention.

Reports emerged earlier Monday that the Jets want Wilson to take over as their starter again, but that Wilson is reluctant to do so . Jets coach Robert Saleh disputed that on Monday, claiming that he had spoken with Wilson and that the quarterback wanted the ball.

Whatever the case, the situation only seems to get messier for the Jets, who are on the brink of being eliminated from the playoff race. It’s hard to envision the situation improving no matter who starts at quarterback against Houston next Sunday.
