Report: Carson Wentz's relationship with Doug Pederson 'fractured beyond repair'

Carson Wentz wants out of Philadelphia. That much was made clear when Eagles head coach Doug Pederson benched him in favor of Jalen Hurts a few weeks ago.

Wentz, who is a healthy scratch for Sunday's season finale against the Washington Football Team, still plans to ask for a trade this offseason, and it's because his relationship with Pederson is reportedly "fractured beyond repair," according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

Multiple teams are expected to have interest in Wentz, Mortensen adds, including the Indianapolis Colts, who could lose Philip Rivers, 39, to retirement this offseason. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Wentz "prefers" to be traded to the Colts this offseason, where he'd be reunited with Frank Reich.

The Eagles, however, reportedly "have every intention" of keeping Wentz next season. Regardless, Philadelphia must make a decision on Wentz's future very soon. His four-year, $128 million contract kicks in next season, and right now, it's looking like one of the worst contracts in the NFL.

While Wentz will likely be on the move, the Eagles are reportedly expected to keep Pederson onboard for the 2021 season.
