Report: Commanders have yet to make contract extension offer to WR Terry McLaurin

While guys like Stefon Diggs and Tyreek Hill have recently cashed in with big trades and/or contract extensions, there are fellow star wideouts like A.J. Brown and D.K. Metcalf who are still waiting for their next big pay day. Joining Brown and Metcalf in the waiting room is Washington Commanders stud wide receiver Terry McLaurin.

Per NBC Sports Washington's Grant Paulsen, "Scary Terry" may be stuck on hold a little longer.

Source tells me the Commanders have yet to make a contract offer to extend Terry McLaurin.

McLaurin is entering the 4th and final season of his rookie deal. The team met with his agent at the NFL Combine and recently said they had an ongoing dialogue. Thus far no contract offer.

Paulsen further reported that late July "feels like the timeline" for a potential McLaurin extension, based on how Washington previously extended Pro Bowl defensive tackle Jonathan Allen last summer.

McLaurin was taken in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft by Washington and has led the team in receiving in each of his first three campaigns. He has posted over 1,000 receiving yards in back-to-back seasons, despite being tasked with competing with shaky quarterback play.

The 26-year-old McLaurin recorded his most touchdown receptions (seven) during his rookie season and produced career highs in targets (134), receptions (87) and receiving yards (1,118) in 2020. He finished 2021 with 77 catches for 1,053 receiving yards and five touchdowns on 130 targets.
