Report: Giants to approach OT Nate Solder about restructuring contract

New York Giants tackle Nate Solder opted out of the 2020 season but plans to return in 2021.

The veteran lineman told ESPN's Jordan Raanan that he intends to play this season "as long as the situation is right." However, he might have to suit up for another franchise.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Giants are expected to approach Solder about restructuring his contract. If it doesn't get restructured, he could be released.

The 32-year-old signed a four-year, $62 million deal with New York in 2018. According to Over The Cap, Solder's cap hit for the 2021 season is $16.5 million. If the Giants cut him, they'll save $6 million.

Solder spent the first seven seasons of his career with the New England Patriots before signing with the Giants.
