Report: Jets targeting Pro Bowl lineman in free agency

While the New York Jets wait to finalize a blockbuster trade for Green Bay Packers legend Aaron Rodgers, they are reportedly in the hunt for another player to make his time in New York even more successful.

Even if trade talks fell apart and the Jets did not trade for Rodgers, they must continue to improve an offense that was an Achilles heel for a team that seemed playoff-bound midway through the season. On Sunday, a new report linked the team to another notable move to boost an offense that was horrendous at times in 2022.

New York Post Jets beat writer Brian Costello revealed that the organization is targeting a member of the 2022 AFC Pro Bowl team that has a history with their new offensive line coach Keith Carter.

“One name to watch with Jets in free agency is center Ben Jones. The former Titan was with new Jets OL coach Keith Carter over the last five years in Tennessee. Hearing there is interest in a possible reunion.”

After being taken in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans, Jones developed into a strong starting center in the league over the next 11 seasons. He hit a peak last season as he earned Pro Bowl honors for the first time with the Tennessee Titans.

However, along with fellow star offensive lineman Taylor Lewan, Jones was a shocking salary cap casualty for the Titans this offseason.
