Aaron Rodgers is likely out for the remainder of the 2023 season after he suffered a torn Achilles, but the star quarterback is still playing an active role for the New York Jets.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Rodgers met with Zach Wilson via FaceTime this week to help Wilson prepare for the Jets’ game against the Dallas Cowboys. Rapoport also emphasized that the Jets are fully committed to Wilson and feel the former No. 2 overall pick’s “confidence has been rebuilt” over the past several months.

A report earlier in the week claimed Rodgers had been studying the playbook with Wilson, but that was quickly refuted. Even if Rodgers wasn’t helping Wilson at that point, it sounds like he will be involved going forward.

The Jets opted not to bring in any competition for Wilson after Rodgers went down. Head coach Robert Saleh has repeatedly said that he believes in the former BYU star, and the team’s actions have been consistent with that.

Rodgers may have a wildly ambitious goal for his recovery, but the Jets are Wilson’s team for the time being.
