Tom Pelissero of NFL Network first reported on Tuesday afternoon that the Seattle Seahawks are placing veteran wide receiver Phillip Dorsett on injured reserve because of the sore foot that caused him to miss the first two weeks of the season.
Per an agreement between the NFL and NFL Players Association for 2020, a player on IR must miss a minimum of three games before he is eligible to return. Seattle has a bye in Week 6, meaning Dorsett will be sidelined until at least the team's Oct. 25 road game versus the Arizona Cardinals.
The Indianapolis Colts selected Dorsett in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft but traded him to the New England Patriots before the start of the 2017 campaign. In 14 regular-season appearances last year, he caught 29 of 54 targets and tallied a career-best five touchdowns.
Seattle signed the 27-year-old to a modest one-year contract in March.
