Reporter debunks Bruce Allen as source of latest damaging Commanders allegations

Front Office Sports senior reporter A.J. Perez has been all over the latest surrounding the House Oversight Committee’s probe into the Washington Commanders and owner Daniel Snyder.

Saturday, Perez revealed through his sources that the congressional committee was looking into allegations of the Commanders withholding ticket revenue from the NFL. That’s aside of the committee’s probe into the first of two sexual misconduct investigations into the organization.

While great reporters don’t reveal their sources, Perez eliminated the notion that former Washington general manager and team president Bruce Allen was his source of the latest report.

“Here we go, another allegation. This has Bruce Allen written all over it,” a Twitter user tweeted.

Snyder fired Allen after 10 seasons with Washington. The rift between the two was evident. Allen and Snyder went into a legal battle surrounding Allen’s pay following his dismissal.

Allen’s controversial work email exchanges with his circle of friends, including former Las Vegas Raiders head coach Jon Gruden opened the eyes of Congress to look into the NFL’s handling of the Beth Wilkinson investigation into the Commanders work culture.

So, it’s easy for outsiders to make the assumption Allen would be behind the latest rash of speculation and allegations into the team. Perez debunked the myth.

He may not be Perez’s source, but Allen will be widely associated with the downward direction of the franchise. His tenure in Washington was filled with off-field drama and negative headlines which placed Allen in the heart of the dysfunction.
