Ricky Williams Still Promoting Weed In The NFL

Former Baltimore Ravens running back Ricky Williams is back in the news, and he's still a huge proponent for legal marijuana use in the league that made him rich, the NFL.

Williams famously quit the NFL because of its anti-drug policies surrounding cannabis and told TMZ Sports that while the league is moving in the right direction, he hopes the NFL will go one step further by allowing teams and the league to treat players with cannabis-based treatments after games.

Williams missed a good portion of his career for violating the league's substance abuse policy and says that society is going through a big change regarding the acceptance of marijuana and psychedelic drugs ... and he wants league commissioner Roger Goodell and the NFL to follow suit.

"I think the next step, though, is at the end of a game, if we're on the plane ride home, the trainer is walking down the aisle and has two capsule cases -- one of Ambien, and the other one of Vicodin," says Williams.

"And the truth is, for football players, we do need something because it hurts, and you're all revved up and it's hard to calm down and go to sleep. And I'd love to see cannabis as being one of those things that the trainer is walking down the aisle and offering to those players."

Williams, who changed his name to Errick Miron, has been outspoken for years about the benefits of using marijuana for mental health and other needs. He now heads his own lifestyle brand, "Highsman," and it's reportedly doing well.

"We have an authentic message, and people are growing some really amazing flower that can really help people feel better," Ricky added. "If we can be a person that can make that connection on the cannabis side, that feels great to us."
