Saints to Induct Jabari Greer into Franchise Hall of Fame
USA TODAY Sports

The New Orleans Saints announced on Thursday that former CB Jabari Greer will be inducted into their franchise Hall of Fame. Greer will be the lone player inductee this year. He'll be joined by former video graphers Steve Paretti and Bob Parkinson. Paretti and Parkinson are this year’s recipients of the Joe Gemilli Fleur-de-lis award for contributions to the Saints organization.

Greer, 41, played collegiately at Tennessee and entered the NFL as an undrafted defensive back with the Buffalo Bills in 2004. After five seasons with the Bills, he'd sign with the Saints as a free agent in 2009.

Greer played at an outstanding level for New Orleans over the first eight games of 2009. He'd intercept two passes, returning one for a touchdown, and broke up 13 throws. An injury knocked him out of the second half of the regular season. He returned for a historic New Orleans playoff run that concluded with a Super Bowl XLIV championship.

Greer recorded 11 tackles and broke up four passes during the Saints postseason run to the title. His eight tackles in the Super Bowl win over the Indianapolis Colts were third on the team.

In five years with New Orleans, Greer was one of the more underrated defensive backs in the NFL. He had nine interceptions and broke up 68 passes in 63 regular season contests in those five years, adding 3 more interceptions and 11 pass breakups in six postseason games.

Greer tore his ACL in a 2013 regular season win against San Francisco. He'd announce his retirement the following offseason after 10 NFL seasons.

Jabari Greer will be the 58th player, coach, or front office member to be inducted into the Saints Hall of Fame. He'll be the eighth defensive back to receive the honor. His 68 career passes broken up are third in franchise history behind Fred Thomas and Marshon Lattimore

Greer's official induction into the franchise's Hall of Fame will take place during a ceremony this fall.
