The Seattle Seahawks have a rare luxury in the NFL, two quality tight ends. Who will emerge as the better option, Noah Fant or Will Dissly?

One area the Seattle Seahawks have plenty of riches is at tight end with Noah Fant and Will Dissly. Which of them will take the lead?

Fant Vs. Dissly

Let’s look at the Seahawks’ top two tight ends this year. They are both relatively young. Noah Fant is 24 years old, while Will Dissly is 26. Even though Dissly is older, Fant has 6 more games under his belt.

By the Numbers

Since coming into the NFL in 2019, Fant has also been a much more utilized receiving option. Throughout his 47-game career, he racked up 170 receptions for 1,905 yards.

Since the Seattle Seahawks drafted Dissly out of Washington in 2018, he’s played in 41 games with 76 receptions for 900 yards. Fant has doubled Dissly in each category.

Scoring Threat

Fant played 6 more games than Dissly, but he only has one more receiving TD (10-9). Fant’s longest TD is 75 yards, while Dissly’s longest is 66 yards. Then again, Dissly began his pro career with a much better quarterback than Fant ever had.

QB Preference

When it comes down to who will play more, it could be closely related to which quarterback the Seattle Seahawks have in the game. Every quarterback has his favorites.

Fant has more familiarity with Drew Lock since they played together in Denver. Geno Smith and Dissly have been Seattle Seahawks teammates since 2019.

Monday Night’s Performance

In Monday night’s game against the Broncos, Dissly converted all 3 of his targets for 43 yards and 1 TD. In Fant’s case, he was targeted 4 with 3 catches for 16 yards.

This goes to show that Smith feels more comfortable throwing to Dissly. It’s also why he and Colby Parkinson were more productive against the Broncos.

Analysis

As of right now, Geno Smith is the starter. That makes it easier to believe that Dissly might get more playing time.

If things go downhill or Smith gets injured, Fant would see increased playing time. Both are 6’4″, so either makes a good safety net for whoever the Seattle Seahawks quarterback is if he can’t find anybody else open.
