Second-year Ravens TEs primed for larger roles in 2023?

The Ravens drafted a pair of tight ends in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. After both stood out during their second minicamp, they seem poised for larger roles in year two.

According to Ravens team writer Clifton Brown, "[Isaiah] Likely made several one-handed catches during minicamp and was frequently open" while "[Charlie] Kolar stood out as a big target in the passing game with consistent hands and a wide catch radius."

It will be difficult for either player to get a lot of reps behind All-Pro tight end Mark Andrews, but the two will surely battle for what's left during training camp.

Likely has already proven to be a versatile pass-catcher. During his rookie season, he had 36 catches for 373 yards and three touchdowns.

Kolar, who was drafted 11 picks before Likely, spent the beginning of his rookie season recovering from hernia surgery. However, standing at 6-foot-6 and totaling 168 catches during his career at Iowa State, he will certainly try to prove himself after a four-catch rookie year.

It would be surprising if either player doesn't make Baltimore's 53-man roster, but year two is important for any player.

Likely probably has the upper hand as the Ravens' TE2, but Kolar may have a case for himself with his massive frame. All eyes will be on Likely and Kolar this summer.
