Snoop Dogg, comedian Pete Davidson named Pro Bowl captains

Comedian Pete Davidson and rapper Snoop Dogg are heading to the Pro Bowl — as team captains, per People.

For the NFC, the 29-year-old Davidson will captain HC Eli Manning's team, while 51-year-old Snoop Dogg will captain HC Peyton Manning's team in the AFC.

"I'm comin' back to the NFL field, but this time, instead of performing, I'm going head-to-head with Pete and competing for the title of The Pro Bowl Games Champion," Snoop, one of the halftime performers at last year’s Super Bowl, said in a People interview.

A "Saturday Night Live" alum, Davidson tells People his motivation for participating is "to impress my Uncle Mike." The opportunity to work with Eli Manning, one of his idols, probably influenced his decision too.

Coming off several years of poor ratings, the Pro Bowl will have a different look. Instead of playing a tackle football game, the brand-new multi-day event will feature various skills challenges between the selected Pro Bowlers. The festivities begin on Feb. 2 and conclude with a 7-on-7 flag football game between the NFC and AFC on Feb. 5.

Allegiant Stadium, home of the Las Vegas Raiders, will host the Pro Bowl Games.

It'll be exciting to see who wins the revamped competition, but the 16-time Grammy nominee Snoop is confident his team will prevail, "The competition is going to go off, but we all know that Peyton and our AFC squad are gonna do some big things. We'll end up on that podium."
