Tennessee Titans Wide Receiver DeAndre Hopkins Shoots Down Rumors of an Exit

It's that time of year on the NFL calendar when rumors and innuendo fill the void left between Super Bowl and the Scouting Combine. This week, a Twitter account appropriately named "NFL Rumors" suggested that DeAndre Hopkins may leave the Tennessee Titans.

"Tennessee Titans DeAndre Hopkins could look for another team next season on a mutual parting of ways," NFL Rumors tweeted on X. "Hopkins came there with Mike Vrabel and his former OC with the Texans, both are now gone. D Hop would have a $16.4M cap savings if cut with June 1st designation."

Hopkins immediately responded to the tweet with the word "cap" and exclamation points. "Cap" is commonly used on social media to indicate that what's being said  shouldn't be taken seriously.

One of the advantages of social media is that it provides a platform for people who may not have had one otherwise, but it also sometimes gives a voice to irresponsible fabulists. In this case, NFL Rumors has over 250,000 followers, and it got the attention of Hopkins.

It's hard to imagine the Titans letting go of Hopkins, their best wide receiver who is entering the final year of a two-year, $26 million deal. In fact, he seems to be actively recruiting players for the Titans.

Hopkins recently replied to an Instagram post by Tee Higgins, a Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver who is a pending free agent, with the crossed swords emoji. The swords are associated with the Titans brand and is used in the team's Twitter bio.
