Texans' Will Anderson Jr. talks C.J. Stroud trash-talking in practice
Thomas Shea-USA TODAY Sports

When you draft a franchise quarterback, you usually want them to be exactly like the dude the Houston Texans drafted. C.J. Stroud is the poster boy for a franchise quarterback, as in, he does all of the right things.

He does not complain. He shows up to work every day. He works hard. He is humble, kind, confident, and a leader. He's good at what he does, which always helps. And, as the kids say today, he's a dawg.

When he needs to lock in and take over, he can, and he will let you know about it, too. We saw a bit of that against the Denver Broncos last season when linebacker Alex Singleton tried to get in Stroud's face. He will talk trash, and according to his teammate Will Anderson Jr., he talks trash at practice all the time.

"C.J. [Stroud] talks a lot of crap, bro," Will Anderson Jr. said. "People don't know that. Compete period every Thursday there is a moment every week. Just unbelievable throws. I'm like, 'Can you save that till Sunday? Don't do it against us.'"

You need that in a quarterback. Sure, Stroud comes off as this humble, quiet quarterback, but he isn't. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, is almost the same way. Before that Netflix documentary came out where he was mic'd up all season long, you didn'ty really know he talked as much trash as he did.

As far as him doing it every time, he makes a crazy throw - well, he must do it a lot then.
