This Bills-Panthers Trade Would Send Adam Thielen To Buffalo
Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

The Carolina Panthers are just 0-6 this season, meaning they could potentially trade veteran players like wide receiver Adam Thielen. Could the Buffalo Bills be interested?

The Bills have been one of the NFL’s more puzzling teams in 2023. They are 4-3 and are coming off of a dreadful Week 7 loss to the New England Patriots. Buffalo has looked dominant for stretches this season, but at other times, it has appeared incredibly beatable.

One of the Bills’ biggest issues has been their lack of depth in the aerial attack.

Beyond wide outs Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis, quarterback Josh Allen does not have a whole lot of weapons to go to in the passing game.

That’s where a guy like Thielen could come into play.

Ryan Talbot of NewYorkUpstate.com feels that Thielen would represent a perfect target for the Bills, although he notes that the Panthers may be reluctant to move him ahead of the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline because he has been rookie signal-caller Bryce Young’s favorite target early on.

Thielen is actually under contract through the end of next season, but being that he is 33 years old and that Carolina is clearly rebuilding, he doesn’t really fit the franchise’s timeline.

Of course, the Panthers may ultimately want to hang on to him in order to preserve Young’s security blanket, but at the same time, Carolina may also want to add some more future assets in order to help expedite its rebuild.

Thielen has been busy this season, logging 49 catches for 509 yards and four touchdowns through six games. By contrast, he caught 70 passes for 716 yards and six scores over the course of 17 contests for the Minnesota Vikings last year, so it’s clear that the aging receiver still has some juice left in the tank.

Clearly, he could definitely help Buffalo’s passing offense, and it should also be noted that Adam Thielen was a teammate of Diggs’ in Minnesota for five seasons.
