Three Jets Miss Wednesday's Practice, Trying to Recover in Time for Eagles
Danielle Parhizkaran/NorthJersey.com / USA TODAY NETWORK

Three players did not practice on Wednesday as the New York Jets prepped for a Week 6 home game against the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles.

Fullback Nick Bawden and cornerback Justin Hardee were new additions to the injury report this week while cornerback Brandin Echols remains out due to a hamstring injury that he suffered against Kansas City.

"Bawden, he's dealing with a calf. We're just trying to monitor him throughout the week, but he won't be a participant. Hardee and Echols are both dealing with their hamstrings. They won't be a participant today. Trying to work them back in for gameday," said Jets' third-year head coach Robert Saleh prior to Wednesday's walk-through in Florham Park.

Bawden logged 17 offensive plays in the Week 5 win over the Denver Broncos. Hardee, a special teams ace who made the Pro Bowl last year, played 18 snaps on specials in Denver.

Still in the concussion protocol, starting cornerback D.J. Reed was one of three limited participants on the Jets' official injury report. He did not practice at all last week prior to missing the contest in the Rockies.

"DJ's progressing, so he’ll be at practice today," said Saleh.

Offensive tackles Mekhi Becton and Billy Turner practiced on a limited basis as well. The former has been on a maintenance plan that ramps up as the game week progresses. Meanwhile, Turner was on the injury report last week, too, but still played on Sunday.

Offensive guard Joe Tippmann and defensive end Micheal Clemons were both full participants although participation in walk-through is just an estimation.

"We’ll have a full speed individual, but then follow up by a walkthrough," said Saleh about the lighter than usual practice. "We’ve had a lot of night games, late travel, getting in at three in the morning, this first half of the season. I just felt like it was important especially dealing with the altitude [in Denver]."

For the Eagles, three defensive players were out of practice on Wednesday. Cornerback Darius Slay (knee) and safety Justin Evans (knee) both started the team's Week 5 win against the Los Angeles Rams but have since landed on the injury report. Defensive lineman Marlon Tuipulotu (triceps) is still out.
