Titans to release Pro Bowl guard Rodger Saffold

Rodger Saffold played in his first career Pro Bowl in February and one month later the offensive lineman is headed to free agency.

The Tennessee Titans informed the guard Thursday morning that the team intends to release him ahead of the beginning of free agency, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Saffold, 33, spent the first nine seasons of his career with the St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams after he was picked in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft. In 2019, Saffold signed with the Titans on a four-year, $44 million deal that had one season left before his release.

The move by Tennessee comes a week before Saffold was set to receive a $1 million roster bonus and frees up $10.5 million in salary cap space for the Titans.

Saffold played in 46 of a possible 49 games during his three seasons with Tennessee.
