The Las Vegas Raiders have caught the interest of arguably the best safety in the 2024 NFL Draft class, Tyler Nubin of Minnesota.

Nubin, a likely first-round pick, had a formal meeting with Las Vegas at the NFL Combine on Wednesday.

"Yeah, I had a meeting with them yesterday, as well," Nubin said on Thursday. "It went really well. I think they're doing great things over there, especially with Coach Pierce and how he was able to take control of the team halfway through the season because that's hard for anybody, especially like even a player coming into a new team halfway through the season.

"So, just seeing what they're able to do and what he's been able to build halfway through the season was really awesome, so that would be great."

According to Nubin, the admiration was mutual.

"I really liked how their defensive coordinator and their philosophy on defense of being attacking and being aggressive," Nubin said. "They said they like my aggressive play style, so I think I would fit really well there."

Raiders safeties Marcus Epps and Tre'von Moehrig both have one year left on their contracts, making it almost essential that Las Vegas takes a safety in this year's draft.

Should the Raiders draft Nubin, he would be joining a safety room that is now going to be led by Gerald Alexander, who has helped coach great defensive backs like Xavien Howard and Minkah Fitzpatrick.

Nubin played 55 games for Minnesota, where he set a program-record 13 interceptions in his career and recorded 207 combined tackles. He was named to the All-Big Ten First Team this past season and was also awarded first-team All-America honors from Sporting News.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
