Twitter Reacts to Detroit Lions Signing Teddy Bridgewater
Brian Fluharty-USA TODAY Sports

The Detroit Lions are acting like a football team that will be in contention for elevated accomplishments this upcoming season.

Making a move to sign veteran quarterback Teddy Bridgewater has signaled to supporters the team was not exactly comfortable with their backup quarterback situation.

And the front office, coaching staff should have been quite nervous, as Nate Sudfeld does not have enough game experience to calm the waters, if something unforeseen happens to Goff.

“At all positions, we’re always going to try to upgrade or add competition because as we all know, competition’s going to bring the best out of everybody," general manager Brad Holmes told 97.1 The Ticket last week. "We had Teddy in for a visit, the visit went well, we’ll just see how it goes. Think Nate’s done a really good job so far in camp. I know there’s a mystique about Nate because of a lack of actual game reps and we understand that and he understands that. Everything he’s done internally, out there at practice, in the meeting room, we feel good about, but we’ll always be looking to add competition. We’ll always be looking to upgrade.”

On Day 11, Sudfeld had one of his worst practices in Motown, as he tossed three interceptions.

With the team poised to potentially win multiple playoff games this season, having an established backup alleviates a lot of nerves heading into the start of the season.

Here is a sample of the reaction online to Bridgewater joining the Lions' roster.
