Vikings’ Justin Jefferson Puts NFL On Notice After Week 4 Win
Jim Dedmon-USA TODAY Sports

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson continued his dominant reign over opposing defensive backs in Week 4. This time, his outstanding performance was enough to help the Vikings get a victory, their first of the season.

In a must-win game against the Carolina Panthers, as both teams entered the game with 0-3 records, Justin Jefferson came up big once again. He caught six passes for 85 yards, and two touchdowns.

Known for hitting his patented Griddy dance after scoring touchdowns, Justin Jefferson changed things up on his second score. On the final play of the third quarter, he went up and grabbed a pass over Panthers’ cornerback D’Shawn Jamison. Instead of the Griddy, he hits Jamison with a too-small gesture, which is normally done on the basketball court.

Attempting to slow down Justin Jefferson, who is the best wide receiver in the NFL right now, is not something many players or teams are capable of doing. He is currently leading the league with 543 receiving yards, on pace to shatter his career-high set last season and putting him squarely in reach of Calvin Johnson’s single-season record once again.

Johnson set the record with the Detroit Lions in 2012 with 1,964 yards, averaging 122.8 per game. Justin Jefferson is on a torrid pace, averaging 135.8 yards per game, which when extrapolated over a 17-game season, would result in him finishing with 2,309 yards.

The league has been put on notice as the LSU star and quarterback Kirk Cousins are clicking and on the same page. He said his celebration after the catch on Jamison was also to put the NFL on notice.

“I mean, that’s a message to the league,” Jefferson told Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. “I’ll go out there to show that it doesn’t matter who’s out there to stiff me. I’m gonna make a play. I’m gonna make a catch. I’m gonna do whatever it takes for my team to win.”

Justin Jefferson has been very vocal about how frustrating it was to see the Vikings lose games despite his production. Turnovers have been a major issue for the team, something that has to be cleaned up going forward.

Couple that with the clip which he has been producing thus far this season and the Vikings should start piling up victories.
