Vikings sign ex-Patriots cornerback Joejuan Williams
USA TODAY Sports

Joejuan Williams has agreed to terms with the Minnesota Vikings, the team announced Monday.

Williams, a 6-foot-3 cornerback who was a second-round draft pick in 2019, gives the Vikings some much-needed depth at a position that has seen big changes since the 2022 season ended, with Patrick Peterson signing with the Steelers, Kris Boyd going to the Cardinals, Duke Shelley going to the Raiders, and Cameron Dantzler joining the Panthers.

With the pedigree as the 45th overall pick just four years ago, Williams will surely have a chance to start fresh in a Minnesota secondary that currently projects Byron Williams to start at cornerback opposite of Andrew Booth Jr. or Akayleb Evans.

Williams missed the entire 2022 season with a shoulder injury. In three seasons prior, he totaled 44 tackles and eight pass breakups – really not living up to the hype of a second-rounder.

He played three seasons at Vanderbilt and as a junior in 2018 he had four interceptions.
