When Buccaneers' GM, Jason Licht, signed Rutgers' UDFA Christian Izien, there wasn't a ton of buzz about the move.

But as training camp got going, it quickly became clear that the versatile defensive back had a shot at making the team.

Then, as the offseason moved further along, Christian Izien really started to make a name for himself. By the time the Bucs' had finalized their 53-man roster, not only did Izien make the team, but he was named the starting nickel corner on the depth chart.

It was an impressive achievement and a rapid ascension for a player who had limited expectations coming into the NFL.

But Izien wasn't done there. In fact, it appears as though he was just getting started.

After securing a touchdown-saving interception for the Buccaneers' in their week 1 victory at Minnesota, Izien proved that he belonged.

Today, in his first career game at Raymond James Stadium, Christian Izien made another big splash.

With just 1:17 remaining in the fourth quarter, Izien intercepted Bears' quarterback, Justin Fields, to seal the game, and put the final touches on what was an impressive defensive effort by the Buccaneers.
