Watch: Chiefs strike first, Travis Kelce catches 19-yard TD

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce are showing why they're one of the best passing tandems in league history.

On a first-and-10, Mahomes threw a 19-yard TD to the nine-time Pro Bowler, giving the Chiefs a 7-0 lead with 7:41 remaining in the first quarter. The big play capped off a 10-play, 86-yard drive. It is also the 17th time the duo has connected for a TD in the playoffs, the most in NFL history.

The Chiefs offense failed to meet expectations in the regular season, but it's finding its footing in the playoffs. It's averaged 26.5 points per game in the postseason. Kelce also has raised his game. Entering the AFC Championship Game, he has 12 receptions for 146 yards and two TDs.

The 34-year-old needs six receptions to break Hall of Famer Jerry Rice's postseason record (151). Thus far, he has three receptions for 36 yards. Perhaps he will make history. Kansas City, meanwhile, is trying to secure its fourth Super Bowl appearance in five years.
