What can the Cardinals get in a trade for WR DeAndre Hopkins?

This week, rumors began circulating that the Arizona Cardinals are looking to trade wide receiver, DeAndre Hopkins. But what can the Cardinals get in return for the five-time Pro Bowler?

According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, not much. On Friday's edition of NFL.com's "The Insiders," Garafolo said a second-round pick for Hopkins "seems high." 

"He's on the tail-end of his career, and the production is going down. There are a myriad of factors for why that is for sure for DeAndre Hopkins," Garafolo said. "Also, is he interested in a new deal? He just got paid a ton of money on a new deal and got reset when he came to Arizona, once again." 

Three seasons after signing a five-year, $81 million deal with the Houston Texans, Hopkins inked a two-year, $54.5 million contract following his trade to the Cardinals in 2020. 

Hopkins still has two years and $34.3 million remaining on his contract with the Cardinals. 

As Garfolo points out, if Hopkins is looking to get paid yet again, that will decrease the potential compensation the Cardinals could receive in a trade. 

NFL insider Jordan Schultz of The Score was the first to report that the Cardinals were interested in trading Hopkins, saying owner Michael Bidwill plans to "express the idea" to possible general manager candidates. 

If this is the end of Hopkins' time in Arizona, he'll end his Cardinals' career having recorded 221 receptions for 2,696 yards and 17 touchdowns over 35 games.
