What Marcus Peters Can Bring to the Raiders
USA TODAY Sports

The Las Vegas Raiders decided to make their last official free agent signings right before the team participates in Raiders 2023 NFL Training Camp.

One of the newly signed players the Raiders signed is veteran cornerback Marcus Peters.

There were many rumors about the Raiders potentially signing the veteran cornerback this offseason. Marcus Peters met with the Raiders early this offseason and later again before finally pulling the trigger and signing a one-year deal.

Raider Nation may have a question about the newly signed cornerback Marcus Peters: what can he bring to the very young secondary core on the Raiders' defense?

Marcus Peters can bring an explosive ball-hawking ability to the Raiders' secondary room. He has spent eight seasons as a cornerback in the NFL. During his eight-season career, he was known as one of the best ball-hawking cornerbacks in the NFL.

The three-time pro bowl cornerback, Marcus Peters, has played 104 NFL games and started 103 of them. He has 284 total tackles, along with 274 solo tackles. He also has 94 total passes defended and 32 total interceptions.

Marcus Peters can also be a vital leader in the Raiders' very young secondary room. The veteran defensive back has many NFL experiences, including playing in multiple playoff games and a Super Bowl.

Marcus Peters is also headed back to the AFC West. The Kansas City Chiefs initially drafted him in the 2015 NFL Draft. He spent three seasons with the Chiefs, so he has some familiarity with the Raiders. He has also spent two seasons with the Los Angeles Rams and, most recently spending, three seasons with the Baltimore Ravens.

Having an explosive ball-hawking cornerback like Marcus Peters for the Raiders was a definite need for the defense. Watching what he can bring for the Silver and Black will be very exciting.

"The Silver and Black open the preseason by hosting the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, Aug. 13, at 4 p.m. EDT/1 p.m. PDT.
