Why are the Colts not brining back Nate Ollie?

Sources shared with A to Z Sports that Nate Ollie won't return as the Indianapolis Colts' defensive line coach next season.

According to Joel Erickson of The Indy Star , he and assistant defensive backs coach Mike Mitchell won't be with the Colts in 2024 because their contracts were not renewed this offseason.

Since my earlier report, a team source has confirmed Erickson's report that both coaches' contracts were up, and neither had their contracts renewed.

In terms of why Ollie wasn't retained, it was entirely a decision made by the team. From what I've learned, the team felt like a fresh voice in their defensive line room was needed. I was told they did not attempt to retain Ollie and let him know they would be going in a different direction.

Regarding what they are looking for next, I was told that they want a coach who can connect with their current group and deploy lineups that puts their players in the best position to utilize their different skill sets. I'm told that the team felt that there was a disconnect in that area last year. The team believes they have a lot of talent on their defensive line and are focusing on putting their players in the best position to succeed going forward.
