WWE star admits trying to recruit Travis Kelce

The Miz is one of the biggest names in the WWE. He is a two-time world champion, an eight-time Intercontinental champion and a two-time United States champion. As such, he knows what it takes to make it at the top of the wrestling industry. Travis Kelce should be flattered, as The Miz has recently admitted to recruiting the NFL star via his DM's.

The Miz's admission came during a recent interview with TMZ.

“I’m always sending DMs to Travis, being like, ‘Hey, you’re pretty good in the ring. I think you could do pretty well,’" The Miz said. "This year at WrestleMania, we’re in Philly, so never say never...It would make complete sense. I mean, Jason Kelce (Travis' brother who plays for the Philadelphia Eagles,) maybe he retires after this year, and then what better way to go out than with a match at WrestleMania?"

Kelce is 6-foot-5 and weighs 250 pounds. He is the perfect build for a professional wrestler and boasts the necessary athleticism. There is also a well-defined path for former NFL talent to make the jump to the pro wrestling world. Goldberg, who is a WCW legend and WWE Hall of Famer, is a former member of the Atlanta Falcons. "JBL" was a member of the Los Angeles Raiders for the 1990 season.

Whether Kelce sees the WWE as a potential route for a second career is unclear.

However, wrestlers tend to enjoy significant longevity if they can establish themselves as some of the top talent in the industry.

For now, though, Kelce will likely be focused on helping the Kansas City Chiefs push for another Super Bowl. When he does start to consider retirement, we will likely hear more about whether the WWE or any other wrestling promotion is in his future plans. Until then, The Miz will need to remain consistent with his recruiting pitch.
