A look at the remaining schedules of the Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks

With the win, the Canucks are now 48-22-8 on the season. They’re five points up on the Oilers for the top spot in the Pacific Division but Edmonton has two games in hand. The two teams will have their fourth and final meeting of the 2023-24 regular season on Saturday in what’ll be a game with major implications on the standings.

• Wednesday, April 10: Golden Knights @ Oilers and Coyotes @ Canucks

• Tuesday, April 16: Flames @ Canucks

The Oilers and Canucks will both play on Wednesday, with Edmonton hosting the Golden Knights and the Canucks hosting the Coyotes. The Coyotes will then head to Edmonton to face the Oilers on Friday for what’ll be one of the games in hand they have on Vancouver. Right after that, Edmonton will host a well-rested Vancouver team.

Following their game with the Canucks, the Oilers will host the basement-dwelling Sharks and then they’ll hit the road to finish off their regular-season schedule with a back-to-back in Arizona and Colorado. Meanwhile, the Canucks will wrap up their calendar with games against the Flames and Jets.

There are a few ways the Oilers can jump the Canucks in the standings over the final week of the season, but the most straightforward path involves them winning their two games in hand and also winning the head-to-head in regulation time. Captain obvious here, but the more points the Oilers can bank in these six games, the less they have to worry about getting a hand from Arizona, Calgary, and Winnipeg on the out-of-town scoreboard.
