Blackhawks Forward Luke Philp Out 6 Months After Achilles Surgery

The Rockford IceHogs announced Monday that forward Luke Philp underwent surgery on his right Achilles tendon over the weekend. Philp, who signed a one-year, two-way deal with the Chicago Blackhawks in March, will be sidelined for approximately six months while he recovers.

The 27-year-old spent most of last season with the IceHogs. Philp recorded 53 points (29 goals, 24 assists) in 60 games at the AHL level. He also had a brief stint with the Blackhawks and posted one assist in three NHL games.

The injury is an unfortunate break for Philp, who will likely be sidelined until February. While the Alberta native wasn't likely to crack the Blackhawks 2023-24 roster out of the gate, he showed last season that he can keep his name in the mix of depth forward options by racking up a career-high point total.
