Blackhawks Injury Update: Reese Johnson in Concussion Protocol

As the Chicago Blackhawks took the ice for practice on Thursday, an injury update came to light. Forward Reese Johnson will miss practice after being  placed in concussion protocol.

Johnson was at the center of a chaotic scrum between the Blackhawks and Anaheim Ducks on Thursday. Amid the skirmish, Johnson and Pavel Mintyukov exchanged blows.

Johnson received a misconduct penalty and Mintyukov was tagged for roughing, but the Blackhawks' forward seems to have gotten the worst of the exchange.

While rotating in and out of the lineup this season, Johnson has five points (two goals, three assists) in 42 games. The Blackhawks are back in action Friday, putting Johnson's status in question. His potential absence could open a spot for newly signed forward Landon Slaggert, who's expected to make his NHL debut when the Blackhawks host the Los Angeles Kings.
