The second period of Tuesday night’s game between the Blackhawks and Rangers brought about an extremely scary moment. Rangers defenseman Jacob Trouba leveled Jujhar Khaira with a massive hit that knocked the Hawks forward out cold.
Players from both sides began a shoving match at center ice, but that quickly dispersed after both sides realized the severity of the injury.
After several minutes of Blackhawks trainers attending to Khaira, he left the ice on a stretcher.
This marks the second Hawks player on the receiving end of an injury-inducing hit in the last four games. Last Thursday, Connor Murphy exited early after a collision with Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin. Murphy entered concussion protocol and has missed the last three games.
UPDATE – 12/7/21, 9:40 PM CST: The Blackhawks announced Jujhar Khaira suffered an upper-body blow and has been taken to Northwestern Hospital to undergo further testing.
MEDICAL UPDATE: Jujhar Khaira suffered an upper body blow in the second period of tonight’s game. After initial evaluation on the ice he was taken by ambulance to Northwestern Hospital for further testing.
