The Chicago Blackhawks are shuffling a pair of defensemen in the wake of recent injury news. The team placed Riley Stillman on injured reserve and recalled Wyatt Kalynuk from the Rockford IceHogs on Monday morning.

Riley Stillman’s Injury

Stillman suffered a left knee injury in the first period of Sunday night’s game against the Vancouver Canucks. During a puck battle in the corner, fellow defenseman Erik Gustafsson pushed Vancouver forward Tyler Motte into Stillman, causing his knee to buckle.

After laboring to get off the ice, Stillman went to the locker room and did not return to action.

In 12 games this season, the 23-year-old blueliner has two assists and a -4 rating.

Wyatt Kalynuk Gets The Call

Kalynuk spent the beginning of the season on injured reserve due to a right ankle sprain. The Blackhawks activated him off IR on November 9 and assigned him to the IceHogs shortly after.

The University of Wisconsin product has three points (one goal, two assists) in four games for Rockford this season.

Last season with the Blackhawks, Kalynuk showed his offensive prowess by recording nine points (four goals, five assists) in his first 21 games of NHL action.
