Blackhawks Stay Busy, Trade Josiah Slavin to Ducks
David Banks-USA TODAY Sports

This swap of AHLers is a minor move for Kyle Davidson and the Blackhawks.

Another day, another trade involving the Chicago Blackhawks. After acquiring Nikita Zaitsev and draft picks from the Ottawa Senators Wednesday, the Blackhawks announced Thursday a trade that will send Josiah Slavin to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Hunter Drew.

This swap involving AHL players is a minor move for Kyle Davidson.

Slavin, 24, played in 15 games for the Blackhawks last season but has spent the entire 2022-23 campaign with the Rockford IceHogs. He has 11 points (three goals, eight assists) in 51 AHL games this season.

Drew, 24, had a brief two-game cup of coffee with the Ducks last season but has spent most of his professional career at the AHL level. The 6-foot-2 defenseman has 11 points (five goals, six assists) in 44 games for the San Diego Gulls this season.

This trade comes in the aftermath of the Blackhawks signing forward David Gust to a two-way deal and recalling him from the IceHogs earlier on Thursday morning.

With the NHL trade deadline just over a week away, expect Davidson and the Chicago Blackhawks to stay busy on the market.
