With the injury timeline around Arizona Coyotes defenseman Sean Durzi (lower body) up in the air, the hockey club have called up Patrik Koch from the Tucson Roadrunners (AHL).

In a 6-0 win on Dec. 6, Durzi can be seen getting crushed along the boards by Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson.

Following the play, Durzi skated to the bench before trying to give it another go later on.

However, towards the end of the second period, it was announced by the Coyotes that Durzi’s injury would keep him out for the rest of the contest.

When speaking about the situation, Arizona head coach André Tourigny stated that Durzi is an important player to his team, but had no update following the victory.

“He (Durzi) is a really good player, important for our special teams,” Tourigny said. “But, I don’t have news. He tried to comeback and didn’t feel too good. We’ll see what Durzi’s situation is.”

Since then, Koch has been recalled to the Coyotes from Tucson.

Koch, 26, has yet to play in the NHL as he has spent time in Czechia, Slovakia and Austria.

In the offseason, Arizona signed him as a undrafted free agent to a one-year, entry-level contract.

Additionally, Koch would play two preseason games against the St. Louis Blues and Dallas Stars before being sent down to the Roadrunners.

So far in Tucson, Koch has 1 goal and 3 assists for 4 points in 14 AHL games.
