Devils re-sign forward Miles Wood to one-year, $3.2 million deal

Wood had an injury-plagued 2021-22 season for the Devils. He suffered a hip injury during the preseason, which required surgery in November. Wood returned to the Devils' lineup in late March, playing in three games, but hip pain returned, ending his season. 

The 26-year-old went point-less in his three games of action, averaging just under 15 minutes of ice time. 

In his last full season with the Devils, in 2020-21, Woods played 55 games, tallying 25 points (17 goals, 8 assists). 

Selected by the Devils in the fourth round of the 2013 draft, Wood made his NHL debut in 2015-16. Wood's best season came in 2017-18, when he posted career-highs in games (76), goals (19), assists (13), and points (32). 

Over parts of seven seasons with the Devils, Wood has 121 points (65 goals, 56 assists) in 326 career NHL games.  

Wood's signing comes just a day after New Jersey locked up its leading scorer from last season, Jesper Bratt. The 24-year-old inked a one-year, $5.45 million deal with the Devils on Wednesday.
