Drury, Fitzgerald, Zito to serve as Team USA assistant general managers for 4 Nations Face-Off and 2026 Olympics
Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

USA Hockey announced Friday that Chris Drury ( New York Rangers), Tom Fitzgerald (New Jersey Devils) and Bill Zito (Florida Panthers) will serve as assistant general managers for both the NHL 4 Nations Face-Off in 2025 and the 2026 U.S. men’s Olympic hockey teams.

Bill Guerin ( Minnesota Wild) was previously named general manager for both events. Chris Kelleher (Minnesota Wild) will also serve as director of player personnel.

Drury, 47, has been the general manager for the Rangers since 2021 after serving as assistant general manager for five seasons. The former Rangers forward helped New York into the playoffs during all three seasons as GM.

Drury has represented Team USA eight times across three Olympics (2002, 2006, 2010), three World Championships (1997, 1998, 2004), one World Cup of Hockey (2004) and one World Junior Championship (1996).

Fitzgerald, 55, has become an icon for his development of young players in New Jersey. In four seasons as general manager, among other roles, Fitzgerald has led the Devils into the playoffs once, knocking off the Rangers in seven games in 2023.

Fitzgerald represented USA at the World Championship (1989, 1991) and World Junior Championship (1987).

After seven seasons in the Columbus Blue Jackets’ front office, Zito, 59, was hired as GM by Florida. In four seasons, he has helped the Panthers to four playoff berths, a President’s Trophy and a Stanley Cup Final appearance.

Zito was part of the management teams that won bronze at both the 2015 and 2018 World Hockey Championships.

Kelleher, 49, is in his 17th season with the Wild, the last two coming as director of player personnel. He represented Team USA at the 1995 IIHF World Junior Championship.

The 4-Nations Face-Off comes in February 2025 and will feature the United States, Canada, Finland and Sweden. The games are expected to be played in Montreal and Boston, while the 2026 Olympics will be in Italy. Both will feature NHLers for the first time since the 2016 World Cup.
