February Will Determine GM David Poile's Moves at the Trade Deadline
USA TODAY Sports

The Nashville Predators struggled with inconsistency in the first part of the season. Early roster and line shuffling, injuries, and on ice execution have made the Preds a tough team to nail down when it comes to playoff potential. That has improved recently, and the shift to better performances has many in Nashville wondering what General Manager David Poile is thinking as the trade deadline approaches.

The Predators have gone 12-5-2 since December 19 and been one of the top teams the Western Conference since then as well. Nashville's February schedule has some challenging matchups including tonight's return to play against the Vegas Golden Knights and next week's game against the Boston Bruins, but there are also plenty of opportunities for the Predators to collect valuable points and gain momentum heading towards the trade deadline.

What happens in the next few weeks will determine not just the direction Poile takes at the March 3 trade deadline but also the direction the Nashville Predators are headed in the next few years. We discuss the importance of the next ten games on today's Locked On Predators podcast.
